We have been taught to believe that love is always about somebody else. Also, we have been taught to believe that in giving to another, we will be deprived.
Contrary to these popular beliefs, love is never about someone outside of YOU. Truly, we cannot love what do we not have and we cannot receive what we do not give. The very act of giving is the receiving. Love is this quality of inclusion that every human being is looking for in their everyday actions. And it is this quality that is more intimate than our breath.
So, If you have someone in your life that loves you more than themselves, treasure that. It is not a small gift. They see something in you that maybe you have not yet recognized in yourself.
The quality of love is not strained. It is twice blesseth. It blesseth him that gives and him that takes
Shakespeare
And if you do not have what is called a "significant other", you are still in good company. It is your very own Self.
In Love, there is nothing beyond us. Like the SUN, Love's nature is to give all to all. It is total and absolute involvement with LIFE. It does not discriminate between the rich or the poor, the male or the female.
Personally, I have come to see that whenever I have unrealistic expectations of another, I am always unloving first to myself.
So how do you love another? Give without expectation. Love without discrimination. And drop all importance to your expectations. Choose to see the beauty.
And as you recognize the Beauty within, you cannot but be compelled to love. This is seed planted in every human being. We can nurture this together. For it is in our nature to want to love this freely and deeply.
Wishing everyone A Happy Love Day and may it be a Happy LOVE DAY every day!
Perhaps you think that different kinds of love are possible. Perhaps you think there is a kind of love for this, a kind for that; a way of loving one, another way of loving still another. Love is one. It has no separate parts and no degrees; no kinds nor levels, no divergencies and no distinctions. It is like itself, unchanged throughout. It never alters with a person or a circumstance. It is the Heart of God, and also of His Son
